  In 2007, oseltamivir became available off-prescription in New Zealand when sold by a pharmacist during winter (May to September) to a consumer at least 12 years old presenting in a pharmacy with early symptoms of influenza1. This is a first in the Western World, and the Medicines Classification Committee recommended availability..
