Regional priorities to inform the reactivation of the FIP–UNESCO UNITWIN Centre for Excellence (CfE) in Africa are shared today in a new FIP insight board report. Bringing together pharmacy educators and professional leaders from across the continent, the discussion identified opportunities to strengthen pharmaceutical education, research and regional collaboration.

Key priorities include broader regional, linguistic and institutional representation; greater engagement of schools of pharmacy in FIP’s academic network; stronger collaboration between education, regulators and stakeholders; and curricula that address emerging needs such as artificial intelligence, digital health, antimicrobial stewardship and interprofessional practice.

The report recommends a regional needs assessment, broader institutional participation, engagement with African deans and regulators, and quality recognition for pharmacy education.
