FIP has the following membership categories:
Individual membersare defined as persons who wish to contribute to and support the development of FIP.
Member Organisationsare defined as legally constituted organisations that represent pharmacists and/or pharmaceutical scientists at the national or subnational level.
Predominantly Scientific Member Organisations (PSMOs)are Member Organisations devoted predominantly to pharmaceutical sciences.
Allied Organisationsare defined as organisations which themselves are made up of organisations representing the pharmacy profession across different parts of the globe. Their membership may well have recognised heritage, history, and language and may span a historical set of nations. They actively support FIP's work to benefit their respective members and for FIP to support them and their members.
Academic Institutional Members (AIMS) are a distinct group of members under the Allied Organisations category. These are academic institutions, such as universities or colleges, not made up of members, but staff that run programmes related to pharmacy or pharmaceutical sciences. They contribute to the development of the pharmacy profession through education, research, and training.
Observer Organisations are organisations that provide essential services to the profession in terms of standards and regulation and can be called upon to advise FIP. These regulatory organisations do not have advocacy or representative functions and cannot be full member organisations of FIP due to this.

Absolutely! We warmly welcome students to join FIP and encourage their involvement. As a member, you'll gain access to a wealth of resources and networking events to support your career development. Additionally, as an undergraduate or full-time post-graduate student, you’ll automatically be part of the FIP Early Career Pharmaceutical Group, enjoying exclusive benefits and a 50% discount on your annual membership fees!
Note: When registering as a member, please ensure you use an email address that you will always have access to, such as a personal email, rather than a university or institutional email address. This will ensure we can always reach you, even after you leave university.
Membership fees vary depending on the type of membership and the income level of the country (country of residence for individual members, or country of location for member or observer organisations).
If you wish to join as an individual member, you can use our membership calculator to calculate how much your membership fees would be.
For organisations and academic institutions, please obtain the latest fees from the membership team at membership@fip.org.
Yes, we do! We offer a 50% discount on individual membership fees for undergraduate students, full-time post-graduate students and early career pharmacists, pharmacy educators and pharmaceutical scientists who have graduated within the last eight years.
We don’t require any specific documents unless you are applying to benefit from the 50% discount as an undergraduate student, full-time postgraduate student or recent graduates. In that case, please send us an email (membership@fip.org) with proof of your enrolment as a full-time student (undergraduate or postgraduate). Please note that the discount is only applicable to post-graduate students who are enrolled full-time in their programmes. Recent graduates should send us an official graduation certificate proving that the graduation date from their first degree in pharmacy was less than eight years ago.
Note: When registering, please ensure you use an email address that you will always have access to, such as a personal email, rather than a university or institutional address. This will ensure we can always reach you, even if you leave university or change jobs.
We take data privacy seriously and fully comply with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). FIP is based in the Netherlands and subject to Dutch and European Union legislation. Your personal information is securely stored and only accessible to authorised FIP team members, for the purpose of managing your membership or engaging with you as a member. Your name and email address may be shared with the FIP section(s) you’ve subscribed to, so they can contact you with relevant news, opportunities and special invitations.
Unfortunately, we are unable to waive membership fees. As a non-profit organisation, membership contributions are essential to support our activities, programmes and services.
That said, we do our best to keep fees as affordable as possible. We offer discounted rates for undergraduate students, full-time postgraduate students and early-career pharmacists, pharmacy educators and pharmaceutical scientists, and we adjust our fees based on the World Bank classification of country economies to make them fair and accessible for everyone.
We encourage you to explore sponsorship opportunities or seek support from your employer, university or other organisations.
Yes, absolutely! You can download your digital membership certificate by logging into your account. It’s officially signed by our CEO and president, and you’re welcome to share it with your colleagues as a proud member of FIP!
Please note that as part of our commitment to being environmentally responsible, we do not issue physical membership cards or certificates.
No, membership fees are paid annually. When you first join, your membership will become active once payment of the fee is received and will be valid until the end of the calendar year. After that, you will receive a renewal invoice at the end of every year to cover the following year.
Our membership starts as soon as you join and payment of the fee is received, and it runs until the end of the calendar year.
Exception: If you join during the last third of the year (between 1st September and 31st December), we offer the remainder of that year free of charge. For example, if you join in September, your membership will start immediately, covering the final quarter of the year you join at no charge, and will then run through to December of the following calendar year.
We’ll send you a reminder by email at the end of the year, when it’s time to renew your membership for the following year. Just keep an eye on your inbox—and make sure your contact details are up to date in your account, so you don’t miss it!
Although your membership is automatically renewed each year, we don’t have an automatic billing system in place—so you’ll still need to make the payment every year. Don’t worry, we’ll send you a reminder at the end of the year to help you stay up to date!
We accept payments in Euros, and our online payment system supports most debit and credit cards.
If you’re having trouble with the online payment, bank transfer is also an option. Just email us at membership@fip.org and we’ll be happy to guide you through the process.
Yes, absolutely! Once your payment is processed, you’ll receive a payment receipt by email. If you need another copy or have any specific invoicing requests, feel free to contact us at membership@fip.org and we’ll be happy to help.
No worries! Just go to the login page and click on “Password forgotten?” to reset your password. If you’re still having trouble, feel free to email us at membership@fip.org —we’ll be happy to help you regain access to your account.
You can update your personal information when renewing your membership by simply entering your updated details in the renewal form. If you’ve already renewed for the year or are encountering any issues, please email membership@fip.org with the information you wish to update, and we’ll be happy to assist you.
Unfortunately, bank payments can sometimes be blocked for security reasons, and this is beyond our control. To help resolve the issue, we suggest trying the following:
- Try registering or renewing your membership using a computer rather than a mobile phone.
- Use a different internet browser – Google Chrome tends to perform best with our system.
- Attempt the payment with a different bank card, if available.
- If you are using a VPN, consider turning it off, as it may trigger the bank’s security measures.
If none of these steps work, please send us a screenshot of the error you're experiencing to membership@fip.org, and we’ll be happy to assist you.
There could be several reasons for this. First, please mark our email address(es) as safe senders in your email. Secondly, check your spam or junk folder to ensure our emails haven’t been misdirected. If they aren’t there, there may be an issue with your membership details. If the problem persists, please contact us at membership@fip.org, and we’ll be happy to investigate and assist you.
Note: When registering for individual membership, please ensure you use an email address that you will always have access to, such as a personal email, rather than a university or institutional address. This will ensure we can always reach you, even if you leave university or change jobs.
If you'd like to file a complaint or share feedback about your membership experience, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at membership@fip.org. We’re always happy to hear from you and are here to help!
For organisational members, please contact us at membership@fip.org. Organisations may resign from FIP at the end of a calendar year, provided they notify the CEO of their intention to resign in writing at least one year in advance. This notice period may be shortened at the discretion of the FIP Board.
If you are an individual member, to cancel your membership, please send us an email at membership@fip.org before 30 September, so that your membership is not renewed for the following year. We’ll take care of it from there and confirm once your cancellation has been processed.
FIP membership runs annually per calendar year, therefore unfortunately, we’re unable to offer partial refunds for cancellations made midway through the year.
If you would like to cancel your membership to ensure it does not automatically renew for the following year, please reach out to us at membership@fip.org before 30 September.
For organisational members, membership will be cancelled after two years of non-payment of the membership fees. However, after one year of non-payment, some membership benefits will be suspended, including access to member-only resources and the possibility of participating in FIP’s policy committees or working groups for member organisations, among others.
For individual members, membership will be cancelled after one year of non-payment of the membership fees.
Please ensure your payments are done promptly so you can enjoy your full membership benefits!
To reactivate your membership, please send us an email at membership@fip.org. Kindly note that you will need to pay overdue fees before we can proceed with the reactivation. As a goodwill gesture, we only ask you to cover one year of overdue fees plus the current year's membership – even if your membership has been suspended for longer than one year.
We’ll guide you through the steps once we hear from you.

The reduced congress registration fee is one of the key benefits we offer our members, and it represents a significant saving – typically around EUR 200, which is higher than the annual membership fee itself.
To ensure fairness and recognise the commitment of our long-standing members, we introduced a policy where the discounted congress rate applies only to those who have been FIP members for at least two consecutive years. It's our way of acknowledging and thanking the ongoing support and engagement of our dedicated members.
To benefit from the exclusive member rate for the congress, individuals need to have been members for at least two consecutive years and be up to date with their membership fees. However, we also offer the opportunity for new members to pay two years’ fees in advance, allowing you to access the special member rate even if you have just joined.

If you are an official representative of a member organisation, your organisation holds voting rights at the FIP Council, which plays a key role in shaping FIP's policy, governance and future direction.
Individual members do not have voting rights at Council but can still influence the work of FIP by joining sections and responding to open consultations or calls. In most of the sections, individual members have voting rights in the section’s annual meeting or assembly.
