FIP congresses

Pharmaceutical congresses have been organised by FIP since 1912. Congress representation is a core activity under the original 1912 Statutes. FIP held regular meetings in various cities except during suspensions cause by World War I (starting 1914), World War II (staring 1939) and the COVID-19 pandemic (starting March 2020).

In the past, FIP hosted the Pharmaceutical Sciences World Congress every three to four years and a World Conference of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Education in 2016. With a stronger emphasis on our ONE FIP approach, all global events are combined and integrated into one annual world congress.

Today, FIP holds the World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, which takes place in a different country, spread across the different WHO regions, each year. At the annual congress, thousands of pharmacists, pharmacy educators and pharmaceutical scientists meet, learn, share and exchange views. Our varied programme, offering something for everyone, makes this congress the premier international event in pharmacy each year. The social side — finding new friends and greeting old ones — complements our programme.

The 84th FIP World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Montreal will bring together healthcare professionals, particularly pharmacists, pharmacy educators, and pharmaceutical scientists, to advance pharmacy’s role in patient-centred care and global health. Under the theme, “One Health, One Pharmacy – Bridging science, practice and education,” discussions will examine how pharmacists can drive progress towards better health outcomes, equitable access to essential medicines and resilient health systems worldwide.
