FIP World List
of Pharmacy Schools

FIP, as the global leader for pharmacy, has taken the initiative to build the “FIP World List of Pharmacy Schools”, which will be the most comprehensive and up-to-date list of pharmacy institutions from around the world. This global list is intended to guide all pharmacy stakeholders, from students to policymakers, in assessing the appropriateness and effectiveness of pharmacy education strategies. The availability, completeness and quality of FIP’s World List of Pharmacy Schools means it will provide a unique source of information for pharmaceutical workforce policies, procedures and plans.

Further background on the FIP World List of Pharmacy Schools:

The FIP World List of Pharmacy Schools is an initiative to monitor pharmaceutical capacity and capability, similar to those of many other global organisations, such as the World Medical Schools List held by the World Medical Association. Given 2021 is the World Health Organization’s Year of Health and Care Workers, the need for our global organisations to demonstrate increased capacity in all health workers is key to ensure our professions are not further diminished but amplified.

FIP is a founder member of the World Health Professions Alliance (WHPA) with doctors, nurses, dentists, and physiotherapists. All WHPA members have been requested to feedback their schools’ status to the WHO as part of pandemic preparedness, and FIP having a list of accredited pharmacy schools will help to identify where schools may be needed and created to ensure long-term pharmaceutical workforce capacity.

Taylor's University’s School of Pharmacy (SOP) was set up in 2009.   From 2010 till February 2014, in collaboration with the Cardiff School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cardiff University, we offered the 2+2 MPharm programme. However, there will be no further intake into the 2+2 MPharm programme in 2014, although our collaboration with Cardiff University will continue until all students currently enrolled in the 2+2 MPharm programme transfer to Cardiff.
Beginning August/September 2014, we will introduce a new and contemporary curriculum in our own BPharmacy (Hons) degree, developed with input from experts in academia, the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia, experienced leaders from industry and also our very useful experience through our international collaboration with Cardiff University.
Taylor's School of Pharmacy is committed to promote pharmacy education, produce future leaders in pharmacy practice and advance research in the field. Our comprehensive curriculum grooms students to become independent learners and equips them with the knowledge and ability to develop and use medications for the betterment of patients.  In addition, we are focused on cultivating pharmaceutical research and bringing this into the classroom to be utilized as a means to train, educate and transform our students to create pioneering solutions.  The School continues to establish a strong collaborative network with reputable pharmaceutical manufacturers.  This is the place to begin a fulfilling career that directly involves saving lives and improving the quality of life of society. Through our educational programmes and links with pharmacy school overseas, we are committed to giving our students and staff the much-needed edge in this competitive field.  The cumulative effects of this concerted and integrated approach place our students in an advantageous position in their future career choices.  In doing so, it is our hope that at the end of their educational pathway, our graduates will be well on their way to becoming respected members of the pharmacy profession.
