FIP World List
of Pharmacy Schools

FIP, as the global leader for pharmacy, has taken the initiative to build the “FIP World List of Pharmacy Schools”, which will be the most comprehensive and up-to-date list of pharmacy institutions from around the world. This global list is intended to guide all pharmacy stakeholders, from students to policymakers, in assessing the appropriateness and effectiveness of pharmacy education strategies. The availability, completeness and quality of FIP’s World List of Pharmacy Schools means it will provide a unique source of information for pharmaceutical workforce policies, procedures and plans.

The FIP World List of Pharmacy Schools is an initiative to monitor pharmaceutical capacity and capability, similar to those of many other global organisations, such as the World Medical Schools List held by the World Medical Association. Given 2021 is the World Health Organization’s Year of Health and Care Workers, the need for our global organisations to demonstrate increased capacity in all health workers is key to ensure our professions are not further diminished but amplified.

FIP is a founder member of the World Health Professions Alliance (WHPA) with doctors, nurses, dentists, and physiotherapists. All WHPA members have been requested to feedback their schools’ status to the WHO as part of pandemic preparedness, and FIP having a list of accredited pharmacy schools will help to identify where schools may be needed and created to ensure long-term pharmaceutical workforce capacity.

Since its formation in 1905, NUS Pharmacy remains as the sole provider of pharmacy education in Singapore. Today, the department has 46 full-time faculty members and they are assisted by graduate assistants, adjunct and support staff to facilitate the learning journeys of  more than 700 undergraduates in the 4-year professional pharmacy and the Minor in Pharmaceutical Science programmes while the postgraduate programmes enrol more than 80 PhD research, 40 MSc (Pharmaceutical Science and Technology) part-time coursework, 17 PharmD full-time coursework and clerkship with 2 clinical residency (haematology and oncology) students. 
NUS Pharmacy has developed close alliance with several schools of pharmacy, the global pharmaceutical and medical device industry as well as the healthcare sector in Singapore.  The National University of Singapore Academy of GxP Excellence (NUSAGE) was launched in 2008 to build a workforce that is technically capable to meet the evolving and heightening regulatory standards for the manufacture of pharmaceutical, biologic, medical device and other health products. NUSAGE offers a world-class academic programme by partnering with renowned academic institutions and pharmaceutical training organizations to benefit participants with opportunities to network with the faculty and experts from academia, pharmaceutical industry and regulatory authorities of Singapore, USA, Canada and Europe. 
Our graduate students formed the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists-NUS Student Chapter (ASC) in 2005 which received the AAPS Student Chapter First Prize in 2012.  Our students are student chapter members and award winners at the annual meeting of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR).  The 7th Asia-Pacific ISPOR Conference will be held on 3-6 September, 2016 in Singapore.  NUS Pharmacy is one of the Asian members of the Globalization of Pharmaceutics Education Network (GPEN) which facilitates graduate students and postdoctoral fellows being trained at their institutions to gain increase exposure to science and culture at an international level.  GPEN2018 will be coming to NUS.  You are most welcome to join us!
