A new chapter is beginning for pharmacy education and pharmaceutical science in the African region with the reactivation of the FIP–UNESCO UNITWIN Centre for Excellence.

The centre will connect schools of pharmacy and regional stakeholders to exchange knowledge, build capacity and advance the quality of pharmacy education and pharmaceutical science. It will also strengthen collaboration with five other FIP–UNESCO UNITWIN Centres across the World Health Organization regions, supporting cross-regional learning.

The reactivation follows the establishment of the African Schools of Pharmacy Association and supports six FIP Development Goals, including 3 (Quality assurance), 6 (Leadership development), 8 (Working with others), 13 (Policy development), 17 (Antimicrobial stewardship), and 20 (Digital health).
