  Background information: In Portugal, it is estimated that asthma has a prevalence of 6.8%, which corresponds to approximately 700,000 people with active asthma. Around half of people with asthma do not have their disease under control. One of the biggest obstacles to achieving control is the fact that most uncontrolled patients (9 out of 10)..
