  Background

  The involvement of women in the pharmaceutical profession has a long but checkered history. From Saint Hildegard of Bingen, a twelfth-century herbalist polymath, to Dr. Carmen Peña, the first woman president of the International Pharmaceutical Federation, we find pharmacy much indebted to women.
