  I. Due to the complex and unclear mechanism of neuropathic pain, therapeutic treatment remains a challenge because it is often chronic and unresponsive to conventional analgesics such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and opioids given orally or parenterally.
