Insights on the humanitarian response of pharmacists in Lebanon are shared in a new FIP insight board report published today.
Convened in February 2025 at the request of FIP members in Lebanon, the insight board captured the experiences of pharmacists and member organisations during recent disasters and emergencies.
Discussions identified systemic gaps and barriers, referencing the FIP statement of policy of the role of pharmacists in disaster and emergency management. Participants assessed limitations affecting pharmacists’ ability to respond to crises, explored available support mechanisms, and recommended actions to strengthen pharmacists’ contributions to emergency preparedness and response—emphasising the importance of collaboration with other stakeholders. “Aid is not an obligation, but a human responsibility,” said the Order of Pharmacists of Lebanon.
This report is part of FIP’s Humanitarian Programme, which supports pharmacists and pharmacy teams in crisis situations by enhancing their preparedness, response capabilities, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuous treatment and access to essential medicines in emergencies.
