Pharmacist-led vaccination services are enhancing immunisation equity and public health outcomes, according to a new FIP executive summary published today.

Drawing on data from 116 countries, the report explores the benefits of pharmacy-based vaccination (PBV), including improved vaccine access in underserved communities, reduced healthcare system strain, and support for life-course immunisation. It presents five thematic areas: the societal value of vaccination, PBV funding models, barriers to implementation, procurement strategies, and economic impacts.

Country case studies from Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Portugal, South Africa, the UK, and the USA illustrate successful models and lessons learned. The report highlights pharmacists’ expanding roles as vaccinators and public health advocates, supported by legislative change, funding reform, and community trust. It offers practical insights for policymakers aiming to integrate PBV into national immunisation strategies and strengthen global vaccination frameworks. An infographic summarising key global trends and outcomes is also included.
