Patients with an impaired renal function have an increased risk of suffering adverse drug events due to cumulation of predominantly renal eliminated or potentially nephrotoxic drugs. In the clinical routine the adequate choice of drug or the modification of the dosage according to the renal function are yet often disregarded.
