FIP World List
of Pharmacy Schools

FIP, as the global leader for pharmacy, has taken the initiative to build the “FIP World List of Pharmacy Schools”, which will be the most comprehensive and up-to-date list of pharmacy institutions from around the world. This global list is intended to guide all pharmacy stakeholders, from students to policymakers, in assessing the appropriateness and effectiveness of pharmacy education strategies. The availability, completeness and quality of FIP’s World List of Pharmacy Schools means it will provide a unique source of information for pharmaceutical workforce policies, procedures and plans.

The FIP World List of Pharmacy Schools is an initiative to monitor pharmaceutical capacity and capability, similar to those of many other global organisations, such as the World Medical Schools List held by the World Medical Association. Given 2021 is the World Health Organization’s Year of Health and Care Workers, the need for our global organisations to demonstrate increased capacity in all health workers is key to ensure our professions are not further diminished but amplified.

FIP is a founder member of the World Health Professions Alliance (WHPA) with doctors, nurses, dentists, and physiotherapists. All WHPA members have been requested to feedback their schools’ status to the WHO as part of pandemic preparedness, and FIP having a list of accredited pharmacy schools will help to identify where schools may be needed and created to ensure long-term pharmaceutical workforce capacity.

An-Najah National University is a Palestinian public university whose Board of Trustees features renowned figures at the national level. The University began its journey as An-Najah Nabulsi School in 1918. In 1941, it was accredited as An-Najah Community College. It turned into a fully-fledged University in 1977 and joined the Association of Arab Universities as a full member in 1981. Number of enrolled students is 23,922 in the academic year 2020/2021, among them 65% are female students and 10% international students. Moreover, the University provides 11,843 student financial aids to help the students that have financial difficulties to continue their education. An-Najah National University is ranked the first in Palestine and is among the Top 500 Universities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Moreover, it is ranked the 46th in the Arab World According to QS Arab World 2022. Regarding An-Najah National University Hospital, it received the Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation as the first academic medical center in Palestine. The faculty of pharmacy at An-Najah National University was established in 1994 and it was the first faculty in Palestine. The faculty offers two undergraduate programs (BSc. in Pharmacy and pharm D.) and three master programs (clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences and community pharmacy). The faculty is varnished with more than ten teaching and research labs that include high-tech instruments and full staff of high professional professors to prepare pharmacists capable to work in community pharmacy, hospitals, and pharmaceutical industry.
