FIP is at the World Health Assembly (WHA), which runs from today to 1 June in Geneva, Switzerland. For a second consecutive year, FIP has been able to organise a larger delegation, made up of Bureau members and other FIP officers, staff and representatives from 8 of our member organisations (from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ireland, Jordan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Switzerland, United Kingdom).
The WHA is the most important global gathering of health ministers and governmental authorities, health policymakers, health-related non-governmental organisations, industry representatives and World Health Organization’s (WHO) policy and technical officers of the year. The FIP delegation will be advocating for the pharmacy profession across several areas, including non-communicable diseases, immunisation, antimicrobial resistance and social determinants of health, both at the assembly and at numerous side events. The federation anticipates making a number of official statements to ministers. All the statements given will be available here. Click here to watch the assembly live.
“The theme of this WHA is ‘All for health, Health for all’ emphasising the importance of collective efforts to improve health outcomes worldwide. In the same vein, FIP is proud to have gathered colleagues from across so many of our constituencies in Geneva this week in order to work together to advance our profession,” said FIP's CEO Catherine Duggan. The FIP delegation is advocating “Think Health, Think Pharmacy” during the assembly. Click here to find out more about this new global campaign from FIP.
