    Background: The UK Diabetes Paediatric Audit Report 2009-2010 reported that only 14.52% of children and young people aged up to 19 years with Type 1 diabetes (hereafter CYPD) achieved The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommended glycosylated haemoglobin (HbA1c) target of <7.5%.
