Drug shortages happen for any number of reasons or causes. Shortage of raw materials, strategic marketing or disruption of cold chain supply, may be implicated. There could be high level (e.g. government or hospital) budget limitations, or simple transportation issues. Pharmaceutical companies may have competing interests in distribution, pricing..
