The efficacy of novel oral anticoagulants (NOACs) have been proved in clinical trials. NOACs can be administered in fixed dosage and fewer food and drug interactions and predictable anticoagulant effect without the need for routine monitoring. They are recommended as first-line therapy for non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) patients .. The access to the whole abstract and if available the presentation file is available to FIP members and to congress participants of that specific congress.
