BackgroundFormerly metformin and Scutellariae Radix extract combination has been reported to enhance anti-diabetic activity. Organic cation transporters and multi-drug and toxin extrusion proteins in liver and kidney are determinant factors on hepatic distribution and renal clearance of metformin.
