Small to medium sized companies (SMEs) are playing an increasing role in drug discovery and development as big Pharma re-thinks its R & D models. Some of the SMEs that have been spun-out of universities have been successful (often despite the university) but many have not. My own experience in setting up and developing a knowledge-based SME.. The access to the whole abstract and if available the presentation file is available to FIP members and to congress participants of that specific congress.
