Mahama is a professor of Pharmacology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, (KNUST) Ghana. He is currently the Executive Secretary for the National Council for Tertiary Education in Ghana. Prior to that, he was Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences at the KNUST.
