FIP World List
of Pharmacy Schools

FIP, as the global leader for pharmacy, has taken the initiative to build the “FIP World List of Pharmacy Schools”, which will be the most comprehensive and up-to-date list of pharmacy institutions from around the world. This global list is intended to guide all pharmacy stakeholders, from students to policymakers, in assessing the appropriateness and effectiveness of pharmacy education strategies. The availability, completeness and quality of FIP’s World List of Pharmacy Schools means it will provide a unique source of information for pharmaceutical workforce policies, procedures and plans.

The FIP World List of Pharmacy Schools is an initiative to monitor pharmaceutical capacity and capability, similar to those of many other global organisations, such as the World Medical Schools List held by the World Medical Association. Given 2021 is the World Health Organization’s Year of Health and Care Workers, the need for our global organisations to demonstrate increased capacity in all health workers is key to ensure our professions are not further diminished but amplified.

FIP is a founder member of the World Health Professions Alliance (WHPA) with doctors, nurses, dentists, and physiotherapists. All WHPA members have been requested to feedback their schools’ status to the WHO as part of pandemic preparedness, and FIP having a list of accredited pharmacy schools will help to identify where schools may be needed and created to ensure long-term pharmaceutical workforce capacity.

The University of Modern Sciences is a private university established under the permission of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in response to the increasing demand for education in various disciplines, and in a sense that the human being is an essential pillar of economic and social development in its various aspects.


Faculty of Medical Sciences ( Formally known as Faculty of Pharmacy until November 2021) of the University of Modern Sciences was established in August of the year 2014 AD, according to the decision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to contribute with its counterparts in other Yemeni universities in developing the skills necessary to practice medical professions as well as access to the development of scientific knowledge in various medical specialties.
The Faculty of Medical Sciences trains pharmaceutical workers in all major specialties.


Students undergo practical training in more than 160 public and private community and hospital pharmacies and in pharmaceutical plants too. Teaching how to dispense and recommend safe and effective medications to patients, modern system to effectively administer the community pharmacy, professional communication, the faculty carries out the training of highly qualified pharmacists of international level.


The university is considered a member of the Federation of Yemeni Universities, the Federation of Arab Universities and the International Federation of Universities, and the University of Modern Sciences works to strengthen dialogue between civilizations and strengthen scientific and cultural ties between it and universities, institutes of higher education and Arab and foreign academic institutions for the good of all humanity, hence the alliance with Cairo University and Sikkim Manipal University are a member of the Federation of Commonwealth Universities, which includes Britain, Australia, India and others, and Al Kut College - Republic of Iraq, believing in the importance and necessity of exchanging experiences and knowledge and transferring contemporary science and technologies to the homeland, which contributes to building a strong generation armed with science and knowledge to match Graduates like them from prestigious Arab and international universities.
