FIP is proud to be participating in the 78th session of the World Health Assembly (WHA78), taking place from 19 to 27 May 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland, under the theme “One World for Health.”

For the third consecutive year, FIP has organised a diverse delegation, including Bureau members, staff, and representatives from FIP member organisations from Australia, Austria, Belgium, China, Egypt, Ireland, Kuwait, Malaysia, Portugal, Switzerland, Taiwan, the Netherlands, the UK, and the USA. Together, this delegation will advocate for the pharmacy profession across key global health areas, including antimicrobial resistance, immunisation, the health and care workforce, and social determinants of health.

FIP is also hosting its first official side event on 20 May, under the theme “Pharmacists and pharmacy: Evidence-based solutions to global threats,” taking place at the International Federation of Red Cross. This event will feature the launch of a new infographic on the global situation on pharmacy.

This year’s WHA is especially significant, as Member States are set to consider the Pandemic Agreement, developed over three years of negotiation. The adoption of the agreement is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to safeguard the world from a repeat of the suffering caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. “This year’s World Health Assembly will be truly historic with countries, after 3 years of negotiations, considering for adoption the first global compact to better protect people from pandemics,” said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

FIP will deliver a number of official statements during WHA78, which will be made available here.
