Education and training needs of early career pharmacists in self-care are shared in a new FIP insight board report made available exclusively to FIP members today. The insight board discussion, held in September, gathered the perspectives of early career pharmacists on the barriers and facilitators related to supporting people to self-manage sore throat and gastrointestinal conditions. The discussion also aimed to identify professional development requirements for guiding self-care behaviour. Recommendations stemming from the discussion include integrating modules on self-care into undergraduate pharmacist education, promoting continuing professional development, providing evidence-based patient education, creating a repository of resources for pharmacists, and developing patient-focused materials to support self-care. FIP will advocate for the implementation of these recommendations.
