A two-day meeting organised by FIP’s Pharmacy Practice Research (PPR) special interest group (SIG) is being held in Granada, Spain, this week. Welcoming participants yesterday, Victoria Cardenas, chair of FIP’s PPR SIG, researchers from 19 countries would be sharing current trends and how research can inform the practice of pharmacy, covering a range of topics such as medication adherence and healthcare integration.

Practice research presented included a scoping review by Fatemah Ashkanani, clinical pharmacist, Newcastle University, UK, highlighting the positive impact of pharmacists’ involvement in benzodiazepine deprescribing and the use of Photovoice (participant-generated photographs) by researchers at University of Alberta, Canada, to explore pharmacists’ experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Abstracts of research presented at the meeting will be published in FIP’s Pharmacy Education journal. The meeting also featured interactive workshops and sessions on improving the quality of publications and the future of pharmacy practice research.
