We developed photodegradable nanoparticles that can encapsulate compounds and release them when subjected to UV irradiation. Because the compounds were encapsulated by the mesh structure of the gel physically (i.e., not by means of chemical bonding) and because the gel network collapsed upon irradiation, a variety of encapsulated compounds would..
