The colonial period brought the new western system of medicine and paved the way to emerge pharmacy houses in India. The drugs & cosmetics act was enacted in 1940 and the pharmacy act in 1948. The 1st pharmacy college was established in 1899 and the 1st manufacturing unit in 1892. The 1st UG program in pharmacy was started in 1932 and later..
