New chairperson appointed for the FIP Foundation for Education and Research

Professor Jenelle Sobotka has been selected new chairperson for the FIP Foundation for Education and Research by the FIP Bureau. Her appointment is effective immediately and she takes office today.

Mr John Ware, immediate past chair of the foundation, welcomed Prof. Sobotka’s appointment, saying that “her experience, insight and leadership skills position her well to lead the FIP Foundation for Education and Research through the next term of its ambitious development. He added: “The world has changed dramatically in the last seven months and our responsibilities to support our communities could not be greater. A strong foundation affords us the opportunity to achieve real impact on students’, pharmacists’ and pharmaceutical scientists’ development to meet the critical needs of our local and global societies”.

Professor Sobotka is the director of the Online Certificate and Masters Programs in Pharmacy Leadership at the University of Cincinnati James L Winkle College of Pharmacy, USA, and a past president of the American Pharmacists Association. She said: “I look forward to working with the foundation board of directors and FIP leadership to advance the profession globally. It will be exciting to enhance current foundation projects as well as create important new initiatives that support FIP’s goals and priorities in education, research and practice.”

Dominique Jordan, president of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), said: “I am delighted to support the appointment of Professor Sobotka. Her vast experience and excellent qualifications will guarantee effective leadership for the foundation through which FIP proudly continues to support global pharmacy. The FIP Foundation for Education and Research and its chairperson are essential to our One FIP strategy. I look forward to working with Professor Sobotka because I have her trust and she has mine, and especially during these times of crisis, more than ever, we need solidarity and action. I know she will support FIP and the FIP foundation to deliver what is needed. I want to thank John Ware for his support to FIP and his engagement in his function as chair of the foundation, and wish Professor Sobotka success and also lots of fun in her work.’’
