Background: HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND) are still highly prevalent in HV seropositive patients. Interferon-alpha (IFNα) has been identified as a key player in the neuropathology of HAND and HIV encephalitis (HIVE). Ongoing studies have suggested that B18R, a novel IFNα inhibitor, can alleviate HIVE pathology.
