  Backgrounds

  Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs block cyclooxygenase isoenzymes (COX-1 and COX-2) and their long term use leads to a number of adverse effects related to normal physiological expression of COX-1, therefore the development of selective COX-2 inhibitors was prompted.
