Steroids are used to treat various conditions from asthma to skin inflammation. Orthoesterification of steroids leads to the formation of compounds which are more potent than their parent steroids. Orthoesterification of steroids is achieved by reacting the parent steroid with the respective orthoester in the presence of an acid catalyst.
