Changes in the Portuguese pharmacy remuneration system and in generic policies were introduced following the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2011 by the Portuguese Government and International Authorities to decrease the NHS pharmaceutical expenditure, in exchange for the financial assistance.
