Background
FDA announces that hydroxyethyl starch (HES) solution is associated with an increased risk of severe renal injury in those admitted to the ICU, and also recommends keeping monitoring renal function for at least 90 days in all patients.
Setting
An 800-bed regional teaching hospital in southern Taiwan.
