FIP World List
of Pharmacy Schools

FIP, as the global leader for pharmacy, has taken the initiative to build the “FIP World List of Pharmacy Schools”, which will be the most comprehensive and up-to-date list of pharmacy institutions from around the world. This global list is intended to guide all pharmacy stakeholders, from students to policymakers, in assessing the appropriateness and effectiveness of pharmacy education strategies. The availability, completeness and quality of FIP’s World List of Pharmacy Schools means it will provide a unique source of information for pharmaceutical workforce policies, procedures and plans.

Further background on the FIP World List of Pharmacy Schools:

The FIP World List of Pharmacy Schools is an initiative to monitor pharmaceutical capacity and capability, similar to those of many other global organisations, such as the World Medical Schools List held by the World Medical Association. Given 2021 is the World Health Organization’s Year of Health and Care Workers, the need for our global organisations to demonstrate increased capacity in all health workers is key to ensure our professions are not further diminished but amplified.

FIP is a founder member of the World Health Professions Alliance (WHPA) with doctors, nurses, dentists, and physiotherapists. All WHPA members have been requested to feedback their schools’ status to the WHO as part of pandemic preparedness, and FIP having a list of accredited pharmacy schools will help to identify where schools may be needed and created to ensure long-term pharmaceutical workforce capacity.

The institution was founded by Ioannis Gregoriou in 1961 under the name Cyprus College, to provide students with well-rounded programs of study combining academic and practical knowledge. The College became European University Cyprus in 2007, following a change in the law to allow the operation of private universities in Cyprus. All Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD Programs have been approved by the Accreditation Committee of Private Universities  of the Ministry of Education and Culture and are recognized worldwide.
European University Cyprus has six schools: the School of Arts and Education Sciences, the School of Business Administration, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the School of Sciences, the School of Law and the School of Medicine.
The Faculty of Pharmacy has been established in 2014 and operates under the School of Sciences, Department of Life Sciences. We offer a five-year BSc program in Pharmacy. Our students have the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in basic subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Human Anatomy and Physiology as well as engage in the full range of Pharmaceutical Sciences including Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis and Technology, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology and Toxicology. The programme is designed on the basis of EU educational standards and offers students a sound foundation for skills required in the Pharmacy profession. Upon completion of the degree, graduates may also continue their studies in relevant sectors such as Public Health and Medicine.
European University Cyprus belongs to Laureate International Universities, a US-based worldwide network of institutions of higher education founded in 1998.
