The importance of pharmacy representation in National Immunisation Technical Advisory Groups (NITAGs) is highlighted in a new FIP insight board report launched today.
The report gathers insights from experts in Canada, Chile, France, Kenya, Malaysia, Malta, Portugal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Spain, and the USA, mapping global pharmacy involvement in these advisory bodies and providing key recommendations for strengthening pharmacists’ contributions to vaccination policies.
With pharmacists playing an increasingly vital role in immunisation, the report identifies opportunities, challenges, and case studies showcasing the impact of pharmacy participation in NITAGs. It also outlines effective strategies for engaging stakeholders and calls for greater inclusion of pharmacy expertise in national immunisation planning. By advocating for pharmacists’ formal representation in these decision-making bodies, FIP aims to enhance vaccine accessibility, improve immunisation strategies, and strengthen public health outcomes worldwide.
