Background
Critically ill patients are associated with high mortality. Broad-spectrum antimicrobial agents with β-lactams are commonly used. They are time-dependent antibiotics with which duration of exposure is commonly measured as the percentage of the dosing interval that free drug concentration above the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC)..
