  Background

  For ocular drug delivery, topical eye drops are the most commonly used dosage form; however, only 5% of the applied dose is absorbed into the eye. Therefore, a more effective drug delivery system is required for severe chronic eye conditions such as glaucoma to provide appropriate bioavailability.
