  The severe shortage of pharmacists is an important limitation to the provision of antiretroviral treatment (ART) in South Africa. Two task-shifting models have been developed to address this, namely Indirectly Supervised Pharmacist Assistants (ISPA) and nurse-based models. The ISPA model has previously been shown to be less costly.
