  Diarrhea is a common complication during a course of antibiotic treatment due to the disturbance of the normal gut flora. For most patients, the symptoms are mild and self-limiting, but in some cases, it may lead to severe conditions, such as bacterial gastroenteritis (e.g. C. difficile infections) or inflammatory bowel disease.
