Gentamicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic, and widely used against infections of Gram-negative microorganisms since it was economic. Nephrotoxicity is the main limitation to its therapeutic use.
The daily oral administration of the astaxanthin at a concentration of 50mg/kg for 15 days to rats treated with gentamicin 80mg/kg for the last 5 days
