  The lack of objective evidence in the field of anesthesiology has led to the belief that the anesthesia work area and practice do not contribute to hospital-acquired infections. Study results suggests that there is a direct correlation between contamination of surfaces in the OR and positive cultures on the internal surface of some IV supplies.    ..
