Juridicious antibiotic use was important to curb resistance. The increasing trend of carbapenem usage in surgical wards was noted since year 2010 despite the current approach of limiting prescribers and the use of a pre-authorized order form. This raised the question of the carbapenem prescribing appropriateness.
