As health care systems grow increasingly complex, pharmacists are key members of the patient care team. This webinar, in collaboration with the World Patients Alliance, will explore how pharmacists contribute to safer care through medication management, patient empowerment, and interprofessional collaboration. It will also highlight the patient perspective by showing how patients and families contribute to safer medication use through shared decision-making, early reporting of concerns, health literacy, and partnerships with pharmacists and other health professionals. Pharmacists’ expertise in disease prevention and patient-centred care is increasingly vital, highlighting the importance of teamwork and shared decision-making in achieving safer and more effective treatment outcomes for the patients.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming higher education and is increasingly influencing teaching, assessment, feedback, and student support within pharmacy education. While AI offers significant opportunities to enhance educational effectiveness and efficiency, it also raises important questions regarding accountability, professional judgement, transparency, and public trust. This webinar examines how academic leaders can define appropriate ethical boundaries for AI adoption in pharmacy education. Drawing on perspectives from higher education and pharmacy education, participants will explore where AI can appropriately support educational activities, where human oversight remains essential, and how schools and faculties can develop governance approaches that preserve professional integrity, educational quality, and public trust. This webinar represents the first consultative dialogue informing the development of the AIM Handbook on Ethical Governance of Artificial Intelligence in Pharmacy Education.

2. Distinguish between educational activities that may appropriately be supported by AI and those that require human professional judgement and oversight.

Poorly water-soluble drugs remain a major challenge in oral drug development. Amorphous solid dispersions (ASDs) and lipid-based formulations (LBFs) are the two most widely used enabling technologies, each improving bioavailability by generating and maintaining intestinal supersaturation. Although they use different formulation approaches, both aim to keep drugs in a non-crystalline, molecularly dispersed state and rely on amorphous drug-rich nanodroplets to support absorption. Increasingly, ASD and LBF strategies are converging through the incorporation of surfactants, polymers, and hybrid technologies. Formulation selection depends on physicochemical properties, manufacturing considerations, and development needs. Emerging beyond-rule-of-5 molecules will require advanced hybrid approaches addressing both solubility and permeability limitations.
