Biographies Speakers


I studied pharmacy at Portsmouth School of Pharmacy and graduated in 1983. I opened my own pharmacy, Copes Pharmacy, in Streatham High Road in 1986. In early 2004, I was one of the first pharmacists to qualify as a supplementary prescriber from Kings College, London. I qualified as an independent prescriber in June 2007. I joined Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham LPC in 1988 and became Vice Chair in 1990. I became the pharmacist PEC member for Lambeth PCT in 2002. In 2007 I became Vice Chair of the PEC and then PEC Chair in 2009. I changed role to become Clinical Network Lead for NHS Lambeth in April 2011. I joined the NPA Board in 1998 and was Vice-Chair in 2003 before becoming Chairman of the NPA Board of Management in April 2004 I was appointed as a member of the NHS Future Forum. I was a member of the Clinical Advice and Leadership workstream. In the second phase of the Future Forum I jointly led the workstream on ‘The NHS’s Role in the Public’s Health’. I have been part of an Expert Advisory Board reviewing the NHS constitution. I am a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and Honorary Fellow of The UCL School of Pharmacy I was a Board member of Health Education South London from 2013-2015 I was appointed as a member of the NAPC Council in October 2013 and became a member of the Executive Committee in 2015 I was awarded an OBE in the New Year’s Honours list 2014 I am a member of the English Pharmacy Board at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society having been initially elected in 2012 and I was President of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society from 2014-2016 I was appointed as a visiting professor at Huddersfield University in July 2016
