Farshad H. Shirazi was born in Sari, Iran in 1964. In his scientific life, he acquired his Doctor in Pharmacy degree from Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Mashhad, Iran in 1988. He has then been employed as a lecturer in Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBMU) Pharmacy School in Tehran, Iran in the same year. Later in 1990, he moved to Cologne, Germany for a Clinical Pharmacology research fellowship program in drug monitoring. He has also continued in SBMU as lecturer until 1993 when reside in Ottawa, Canada to study at Ottawa U, faculty of Medicine. In Ottawa, he got his M.Sc. from the Department of Pharmacology in 1995 and his Ph.D. in 1998 from the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine. Simultaneously, he has improved his computer knowledge to become a licensed software programmer in 1997. In 2005, he enrolled a course and thesis based fellowship in Medical/Pharmaceutical law and Ethics in SMBU for 3 years with a thesis. His main research interest is Bio-spectroscopy, new anti-cancer drugs, and cancer experimental therapy. Prof. Farshad H. Shirazi published more than 90 scientific publications and 5 chapters, made more than 180 congress presentations and obtained more than 50 research grants, and has supervised about 50 students. He is a member of the working group of Ethics and Autonomy in FIP, and a member of the editorial board on WHO World Pharmacopeia. He is currently a full professor at SBMU pharmacy school (supervising a research lab, and teaching pharmacology, toxicology, ethics, and cellular and molecular pharmacology), dean of the SBMU Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Center, higher scientific advisor of the board of the biggest food and pharmaceutical holding in the region; AGR, and the chief editor of the English previewed journals of IJPS and IPA.
