Mr. Abdul Latif Sheikh currently is the President and CEO of the Pakistan Society of Health System Pharmacists. Mr. Abdul Latif Sheikh was the founding HOD and Director, Pharmacy Services at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan; a JCIA and ISO 9001:2008 certified 800 beds facility till August 2016 with service span of thirty years. Earlier he worked as Chief Pharmacist at King Khalid Teaching Hospital, Alkhobar, Saudi Arabua and as Principal Pharmacist at Riyadh Alkharaj Hospital Program, Riyad, Saudi Arabi, cumulatively for eight years He studied undergraduate pharmacy in Pakistan and subsequently acquired his Masters in Pharmacy Administration from Arnold and Schwartz College of Pharmacy, Long Island University, New York. He completed his hospital pharmacy training at the St. Luke’s-Roselvelt Hospital, New York; a 855 beds teaching facility of the Columbia University, New York and continued to work as Administrator Supervisor for ten years. He continues to hold a license and registration to practice pharmacy in New York. He is a strong advocate of patient safety and believes in promoting quality of care through innovations in medications usage in the health care systems. He has been instrumental in setting up a state of the art hospital pharmacy services, pharmaceutical supply chain systems in countries like Pakistan, Oman, and Saudi Arabia. He was awarded Arthur Anderson/Dr. Ed Crosby International Award for Managerial Innovation by the International Hospital Federation at Copenhagen, Denmark for his land mark contribution in pharmacy systems. At present he is a expert Member of the Drug Policy Broad that oversee Drug Regulatory Authority of the Government of Pakistan. He has been a Member of WHO Expert Advisory Panel on International Pharmacopoeia and Pharmaceutical Preparations At present he is also Vice President, EMRO Region, Hospital Pharmacy Section,Federation of International Pharmaceuticals (FIP), Hague, Netherlands.
