She holds a Master degree in Health Law and her PhD is about developing moral reasoning capabilities and application in pharmacy practice. Dr Chaar works on promoting moral reasoning in the delivery of healthcare services by pharmacists in all aspects of practice. As pharmacy evolves, providing expanded and varied healthcare services to the public, duties and responsibilities of pharmacists to their patients expand exponentially. It is of primary importance to maintain ethical awareness and sensitivity to ethical dimensions of practice, in order for the profession to maintain progress and continue to enjoy its most valued asset: the trust of the public in the services provided. Betty is currently Chair of Family Planning NSW HREC; past President of the Australian Association for Professional and Applied Ethics [AAPAE], member of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency Peer Review committee; member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia Ethics Advisory Service; member of the FIP Program Committee; and Co-chair of the newly founded FIP Expert Group on Ethics.
