Nithiya works as a Senior Pharmacy Executive in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. She started her career as a Pharmacy Technician upon completion of Singapore’s Certified Pharmacy Technician Course in 1997 and has gained more than 20 years of experience in this field. She believes in continuous learning and has graduated with a Master’s in International Business from University of Edinburgh Napier in June 2016. As a Senior Pharmacy Executive, Nithiya oversees pharmacy operations as well as the supervision of Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants. She manages them holistically by looking into their training and career progression, including their individual needs and development. She also runs preceptorship programmes for tertiary students pursuing a diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Aside from work, Nithiya is an active member of Singapore’s Ministry of Health Pharmacy Technician Task Force where they oversee the National Competency Standards for both existing and future Pharmacy Technicians. She is always eager to share her insights with the younger generation and have spoken numerously at national platforms such as the Singapore Pharmacy Congress, focusing mainly on topics such as Pharmacy Technician career progression and competency standards. Nithiya strongly believes that the role of Pharmacy Technician is far beyond picking and packing and that everyone should be given the platform to showcase their capabilities and find career satisfaction.
