Presentation and interactive workshop

The final session will provide participants with an opportunity to discuss the integration of mid-level cadres within the pharmacy profession at the local, national and international level. Specific case examples will be discussed to explore models and partnerships that support the recognition of pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy support workers as valued members of the pharmaceutical workforce. An introduction to the Global Statements and Pharmaceutical Workforce Development Goals that were accepted at the 2016 Global Conference in Nanjing will be provided. Workshop participants will identify strategies to promote integration of the pharmacy support workforce within the Workforce Development Goals, setting the groundwork for enhanced access to pharmaceutical care services for patients.

 

Learning objectives 

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

1. Identify the key messages of the Global Statements and Pharmaceutical Workforce Development Goals (PWDGs).

2. Understand the importance of the Global Statements and the PWDGs for the pharmacy support workforce.

3. Identify strategies that can be used to develop the pharmacy support workforce locally and internationally.
