COVID exposed worldwide health inequalities and security challenges. Consequently WHO, WTO and other entities are calling for regional diversification of vaccines and drug manufacturing. For this to be sustainable there has to be strong demand from countries and multilateral procurement agencies.

The increasing incidence of bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs), particularly among men having sex with men has encouraged the wide preventative use of doxycycline as Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (DoxyPEP), although experts think the strategy could benefit patients outside this group. There are also concerns associated with antimicrobial resistance and the frequent (and potentially incorrect) use of antibiotics by individuals who use this intervention. This event will inform pharmacists of the evidence supporting the rational use of this intervention and explore the potential impacts of widespread use from a public health perspective

The webinar will explain how disrupting technologies and novel concepts impact the way clinical trials are designed and executed. This new age of clinical trial advancements means that Sponsors and all trial stakeholders, including the sites and technology partners must evolve to meet the demands of this new paradigm. In this talk, Dr Kubassova will talk about the fundamentals of a digital strategy, which is needed to leverage novel technologies within clinical trials. She will also speak about data-driven approach to drug development and cover how integrating AI into drug development process affects cost, speed and success of pharmaceutical drug development. You can bring these fundamentals with you into development of drugs in a particular indication or conducting a real-world evidence study.

This webinar will explore the evolving role of pharmacists in the dispensing of medicinal cannabis and address the increasing demand for pharmacist involvement in this emerging therapeutic area. The importance of this topic lies in the unique responsibilities pharmacists have in patient education, dispensing, monitoring and ensuring ethical standards. By addressing the pharmacological effects of cannabinoids, global regulatory frameworks and challenges for pharmacists, this event will equip pharmacists with the tools to navigate the complexities of medical cannabis use, while highlighting the need for ongoing education and training in this evolving field.

The academic section concluded with a strategic plan, and advocacy and global influence were identified as critical priorities for the section. Panelists representing key stakeholders worldwide will be invited to address the following questions related to advocacy and change management. 1.) What has worked well in your region to shape education policy? 2) What challenges did you face? 3) How can the FIP academic section influence education policy in your region? 4) What advice do you have for individuals entering this area of advocacy and policy in pharmacy education? The MyDispense Symposium will take place from 13th to 16th July 2025 at the Monash Prato Centre, Italy, marking the 15th anniversary of the MyDispense programme. This event will introduce MyDispense version 8.0, incorporating features such as Medication Administration Records (MAR), Pharmacist Independent Prescribing, and diagnostic tools for pharmacists. The upgrade also includes enhancements to ePharmacy workflows and patient avatars to improve the realism of training exercises.
